About Us

Detroit Equals Family (DEF) is a community empowerment organization dedicated to introducing children and families in underserved communities to financial literacy, business, entrepreneurship, and ownership.

Beginning in Detroit’s 48205 community, our mission is to provide the knowledge, exposure, mentorship, and resources that help people move from simply being consumers to becoming entrepreneurs, homeowners, investors, and owners.

Through financial education and our 205 Kids Initiative, we are preparing the next generation to understand money, recognize opportunity, build wealth, and create stronger communities.

Our vision is simple: educate people, create opportunity, build ownership, and change what the next generation inherits.
